About Us

It all started with mashed potatoes...no seriously. When we moved to Dickens county in 2021, we enjoyed dining at all the local establishments. We quickly discovered that mashed potatoes were a delicacy and only featured on everyone's menu on occasion, if at all. Jason is a firm believer that you can not have a Chicken Fried Steak without a hearty serving of mashed potatoes so we decided to open a restaurant so he could enjoy that combo any time. 

I (Becky) was born and raised in west Texas and graduated from Patton Springs in 2001. I moved to Lubbock where I worked at bars and restaurants for many years until I began a career in the jewelry industry and continue working full time in jewelry today. 

Jason was born and raised in Oklahoma and has worked in the oil and gas industry for over 25 years. He also still does that to this day. Jason raised 2 amazing kiddos who reside in Oklahoma and are 24 and 21 and we have a 7 year old who attends Patton Springs. We are so happy to be just a few short hours away from them.

We purchased some land in Afton in 2021 to get away from the madness of big city life, get closer to family and to raise our youngest son with small town values and in a more intimate school setting. Jason has always wanted to open a restaurant and bar so we decided to make that dream a reality and here we are. 

We are in NO WAY perfect and learn more each and every day. We are so thankful to be in Dickens County and look forward to serving the area for many years to come. 

At Becktons Chophouse & Tavern, we believe quality and service are the most important aspects of our business. We do NOT serve fast food but we serve fresh food. Everything is made to order, from scratch. We've worked to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for any occasion.
